About Us

Hello! My name is Madelyn Galan and I am the proud owner of Bilingual Friends and Family Daycare. I moved to the continental United States from Puerto Rico to Albany, NY in 2006 with my two daughters. As a single mother of two it was extremely hard for me to leave my two-year-old and four-year-old in a daycare environment where no one spoke their language. Not only that, but it was also very hard on me financially, even though i worked two full time jobs in an effort to cover their child care costs. This financial difficulty provided me with the idea and motivation to begin the process of becoming a licensed childcare provider. My goal was to keep my children in my care, all while working to assist  single parents like myself that had to work multiple jobs or have multiple lines of income in order to make their ends meet. Having had that experience myself, I made the decision of providing the extended hours of 7A.M. until 12A.M. (Midnight) to be our standard.  

In 2007, I earned my registration as a Family Daycare Provider with our local Childcare Council, now known as BrightSide Up, in Menands, NY. In 2018, our waiting list started to grow as we reached our capacity of allowed children, and thus I decided to begin our transition to become a licensed Group Family Daycare. Two years, and a pandemic later, in 2020, we earned our Group Family Daycare license through The Office Of Children And Family Services in Albany, New York. 

Here, at Bilingual Friends and Family Daycare, you will meet a highly trained, dedicated, child care provider on-site at all times and a staff that is present every single moment to ensure your child’s well-being and to guide them through their early years. Our home-like setting, along with our safe and secure environment, make our daycare the place for children to feel at home. A secondary home to play, laugh, and learn.
